Report paints gloomy future for Pakistan
New Delhi, India, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- U.S. intelligence officials have said Pakistan will be a failed state by 2015, the Times of India reported Sunday.
An assessment report compiled by the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies forecasts a "Yugoslavia-like fate" for Pakistan, thanks to civil war, Talibanization and a struggle for control of nuclear weapons.
"Pakistan will not recover easily from decades of political and economic mismanagement, divisive policies, lawlessness, corruption and ethnic friction," the report said, according to Pakistan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Wajid Shamsul Hasan, writing in the South Asia Tribune.
The article comes in the backdrop of growing violence between gas-rich Balochistan and Pakistani security forces stationed in the province.
